Advances in wood processing technology, including computer numerical control (CNC) allows for the automated control of machining tools.
CNC machines, combined with computer software, give huge flexibility in design expression.
Not all timbers are suitable for the CNC process, and can chip or flake with intricate designs.
Vulcan timber provides an excellent substrate for CNC cut designs. Available in sizes up to 400mm wide and 190mm thick, there are few limitations on dimensions, or dimensional stability.
Vulcan's low moisture content, high level of stability and fine grain means intricate designs can be easily cut, without damage or breakout. Vulcan timber is also suitable for above ground exterior application, allowing designers the flexibility to design for exteriors.
